Clearing is a stressful time, especially when you are trying to secure a new course, and maybe even at a different university, but when it comes to student finance and clearing 2018, it isn’t as difficult as you may think.
Clearing starts on A-Level results day and finishes the 30th September, during this period you will need to call up universities and try to find a free spot on your desired course. Universities have helplines, and there are lots of people that can help you.
Once you have chosen a new course and accepted the offer through UCAS Track, you need to log onto your Student Finance account and change the details of your application.
If you are going to study Full-Time, you need to apply now through Student Finance via their online website, and part-time students need to download an application form. You need to apply as soon as possible to make sure you get your loans and grants when you start university and not incur delays. Once you have applied, you will need to send off specific documents requested for them to verify your application.
If you have already applied but had your previous university and course details listed, you can log in and amend them. Student Finance will then contact your new chosen institution to confirm your place. If you don’t change your details, then you may not receive your funds, and your tuition won’t be paid to the university you are going to, and fixing these problems may take a long time further down the line.
If Student Finance had already approved your previous application, you would see the options, ‘Change your application details’, ‘Change your course’ and ‘Change your loan amount’. Through these options, you can alter your application, whether you are on a different course and/or at a different university.
If your application is still being processed and Student Finance haven’t yet approved it, you will see the option ‘Change your application details’ and here is where you can alter your information, to guarantee the money is going to the right place.
If you still have questions about your application and how to change your details, you can call Student Finance or the Student Loans Company and find their contact details through the ‘Contact us’ on your account page, or through their social network pages, on Facebook and Twitter.
