You may or may not have worried about your results leading up to the day but there are options if you didn’t receive the results you were hoping for, a Clearing Plan B, if you will.
The first is going back to your UCAS choices. Your first choice may not offer you a place depending on your results; nevertheless, the other choices could offer you one. These are Universities and courses you have researched and liked enough to apply and they may be more lenient during Clearing.
If you do not receive any offers, these choices can be a good start to choosing other Universities during Clearing. Think about why you chose them in the first place; was it the area and city the University was based in? Was it the culture or nightlife surrounding the University? Or the chance to live away or to commute from home? Use these preferences when looking through alternative possibilities and factors that are essential to you and others that you can compromise.
Choose the universities you would want to go to and remember to follow them on results day and thereafter. Follow them on social networking sites and watch their website, if they are taking part in Clearing you will want to have all the course information and updates regularly, to help you find the right course for you.
Remember there are other directions you could take. Now, if your dream is to be a Rocket-Scientist, we advise not to apply for a Dance degree at Roehampton University just because it is a part of Clearing. However, looking at similar courses or joint degrees are other steps. Are you only interesting in taking Media Studies or would Film and Media degree still aid you in your ambitions?
If you don’t want to compromise your course choice, a gap year may be the best option for you. There are work experience opportunities or retaking those exams to get the grades you need to get on your desired course. Contact your Universities to guarantee the possibility of you re-applying next year with retaking your exams.
Our University and course pages have lots of information on each course to help you through Clearing this year. Hopefully, you won’t need to go to Plan B, C or D, but if you do there are lots of options for you if you have to.
