This Foundation Degree includes the study of such topics as the fundamentals of cyber security, software development, networks forensics, computer systems, ethical hacking, and design principles behind the development of secure IT systems, all of which contribute to the current extraordinary achievements of the Internet and provide solid foundations for the next major iteration of the Web that is being built upon Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies and projects like Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).<br/>We will introduce students to a selection of current technologies like network detection of and protection against unsolicited and extraneous network traffic to the organisation, networks simulators like CISCO’s Packet Tracer, and penetration testing tools like METASPOIL to probe IT systems vulnerabilities.<br/>This topic integrates well within the project-based approach of the programme that reflects ‘real life’ problems that students can expect to encounter in the world of the cyber security industry. <br/>Assessment is undertaken through a range of techniques including assignment work, presentations, short tests, practical tasks, projects, and other modern methodologies.<br/>Successful completion of the FdSc Cyber Security can lead to a wide range of roles including Information Security Analyst, Information Security Specialist, Digital Forensic Examiner, Penetration Tester, Ethical Hacker, Security Engineer, or Cyber Security Manager.
