This part-time HNC course is the perfect qualification for technicians already employed in the construction industry to further their knowledge and gain the additional skills needed for promotion and progression. It is also suitable for students looking to progress from a Level 3 Diploma course. It allows students to continue to work, whilst furthering their understanding of the broad health and safety, design, management and technological aspects of the contemporary construction industry. The course has been designed with employers in mind and teaches vocational skills that can be directly applied to the construction environment. You will require a successful interview for entry onto the HNC. Havering Colleges, New City College is registered with the Office for Students.<br/><br/>This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge to begin to build your career as a site manager, building surveyor, quantity surveyor, project manager, building engineer or facilities manager. We offer two pathways for students to study – either Construction or Survey – depending on your area of specialism. This is a classroom based course.<br/><br/>At the end of the course, students should be able to demonstrate a broad understanding and application of relevant principles relating to modern construction, including: Materials and their use; health, safety and welfare; construction methods and maintenance; the law in relation to the built environment; design principles; and responsibilities in regards to the environment.<br/><br/>On successful completion of the course you will be eligible for entry to the Level 5 HND programme. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to a degree course at university. The HNC course can also be used as an entry requirement for professional qualifications, such as those offered by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).<br/><br/>For part-time students, the course is studied over a period of two years. Attendance is 1 day per week.<br/>The course will take place at our Rainham Campus.
