Youll consider theoretical and practical issues relating to the main factors influencing addiction from biological, social, cultural and psychological perspectives. The knowledge and skills youll gain during the course will allow you to pursue or advance your career in the fields of addiction and mental health issues. <br/><br/>**More about this course** <br/><br/>This course will equip you with an up-to-date knowledge of addiction within a mental health context, as it addresses addiction from psychological, physiological, political and legal points of view. It also provides a strong scientific basis and teaches critical analysis of policy and law from an evidence-based perspective. The role of research is continually emphasised and youll become an active participant in the creation of knowledge.<br/><br/>Career development is a strong focus of the degree and youll develop knowledge that will allow you to work in different areas of the addiction field. Youll also develop skills relating to the assessment, management and treatment of addiction.<br/><br/>Youll be taught by practitioners, researchers and scholars in the addiction and mental health fields and be encouraged to become a member of the Society for the Study of Addiction (SSA).
