At Birmingham Newman University, we recognise that teachers come from a diverse community and therefore need access to different routes into the profession. <br/><br/>If you are passionate about teaching, this course will equip you with the skills to teach secondary school students across the 11-16 age range, plus post-16, recognised through the award of QTS. The course is designed to provoke thought, challenge assumptions and help develop you as a reflective practitioner of the subject, so that you can enter the teaching profession with clear educational priorities and the skills with which to achieve them.<br/><br/>The Undergraduate programme has both a pedagogical and practical aspect. Over the three years you will have regular placements, equating to a minimum of 120* days in school, where you will develop your understanding of the subject alongside the professional skills required to teach.<br/><br/>In addition to your main school placements, you will have the opportunity to experience post-16 education, primary school settings and alternative placements. Furthermore, you will develop the skills required to enhance your own professional understanding and develop your own areas of professional interest.<br/><br/>*120 days in school maybe subject to change by the Department for Education (DfE).
