Anglia Ruskin University was awarded university status in 1992. Today, with a student population of 31,000, the university is one of the largest in the East of England, and a large provider of part-time education.
The university’s reputation is consistently held with their long-established relationships and connections. The Department of Vision and Hearing Sciences are connected to some of the UK’s largest retail opticians, like, Specsavers, Boots and Vision Express. Their Lord Ashcroft International Business School has developed a course with Barclays Bank Plc. The Biomedical Science course has been accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science, and their Forensic Science pathways have been accredited by The Forensic Science Society. MA Film and TV Production is established with 4Rights. The college’s Legal Practice Course was the first in the UK to receive Skillsmark accreditations, and was awarded a Grade 1.
In the Government’s Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) for Higher Education, the university were the top-rated for Psychology, second place for English Language and Literature and third place for History.
The college is striving to provide students with the best facilities with investing over £81 million in the last five years and planning to invest a further £90 million over the next five. Their impressive facilities are made up of; four university libraries, multimedia sound suite and recording studios, Human Energetics Sport Science Laboratory, Eye clinic, forensic science laboratories suites with a crime unit, two art galleries, language centre, mock courtroom, simulated hospitals and operating theatres, counselling rooms and the Mumford Theatre.
