  • Learn from research-led academics who are experts in their field
  • Courses designed with direct input from employers

More Info

Situated on the beautiful South Coast, Bournemouth is one the UK’s top tourist destinations with seven miles of sandy beaches.

Bournemouth is a lively, cosmopolitan town with a large student community that gives you a wide range of options when it comes to socialising with your friends. That could mean taking advantage of our seaside location to learn to surf, lying in the sun at the weekend, or enjoying Bournemouth’s vibrant night life. Our Students’ Union even has its own nightclub, The Old Fire Station.

Extensive rail, road, air and sea links make Bournemouth very accessible. London is less than two hours by train and the ever-expanding Bournemouth International Airport provides an excellent gateway to Europe.

We understand that finding the right place to live is really important when you’re moving away from home to come to university. That’s why we guarantee accommodation for all new undergraduate students who have selected BU as their firm choice and submitted their UCAS application by 15 January (UK/EU students) or 30 June (non-EU students).**

We offer a range of accommodation, with the majority of our rooms being based in student hall style buildings. There are usually six en-suite rooms to a hall with a shared living space and kitchen.

We deliver a great student experience, and have invested heavily in ensuring our learning and social spaces are modern and attractive. That’s why we were awarded a silver award in the 2017 Teaching Exercise Framework – recognising that we are delivering high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for our students. We are continually improving and there is much more to come in terms of new facilities.

Clubs and societies

You’ll find plenty to keep you entertained away from your studies at BU.

Our Students’ Union runs a massive range of clubs and societies – there are more than 100 at present, and if there’s not one that takes your fancy, they’ll help you set up your own.

If you’re musical, there are a range of choirs and orchestras you could join. Perhaps you’re into your sport, or an artist, or want to learn a new language. Maybe you just fancy a bit of volunteering. There’s something for everyone at BU.
