Newman University is a single campus university based in South West Birmingham that was founded in 1968.
We have two Faculties within the university: the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies.
Originally founded as a teacher training college in the 60’s, Newman University has an enviable reputation for its Initial Teacher Education programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Our experienced tutors and good relationships with schools throughout the West Midlands ensure high quality education. In addition to teacher training, the School of Education offers Early Childhood Education and Care single honours and Education Studies joint honours courses.
The Faculty of Arts, Society and Professional Studies offers undergraduate courses in Accounting; Business; Criminology; Counselling; Drama; English; Health and Social Care; History; International Social Work; Mathematics; Psychology; Social Science; Sport; Theology and Philosophy; Working with Children, Young People and Families; Youth and Community Work.
Every undergraduate degree at Newman University involves a compulsory work placement. This is usually carried out in the 2nd year of the degree and is a key factor in the high employment rate of our graduates.
