About this University

The University of Greenwich is a diverse and friendly community. We have approximately 38,000 students from more than 140 countries studying across our three campuses in London and Kent.

We treat all our students as individuals and will do our utmost to help you reach your full academic potential regardless of your background or individual circumstances.

Our degrees are designed in conjunction with employers, so you’ll gain the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a competitive jobs market. If you study one of our accredited programmes, you’ll be exempt from certain professional exams after graduation. This will add an impressive line to your CV and help catch the eye of employers.

Our highly qualified staff provide a rewarding and rich learning experience. We’ve recently been awarded a Teaching Excellence Framework Silver award that recognises our high-quality resources and teaching, as well as our supportive, student-centred approach.

Inspiring Settings

Greenwich Campus sits in the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site on the banks of the River Thames. As well as stunning historical buildings, it has modern, high-tech facilities, including a TV studio and editing suites, and the award-winning Stockwell Street building, which houses the campus library. We’re also nearing the end of a £25-million project to convert the Dreadnought Building into a central hub for students, with state-of-the-art learning, teaching and social spaces.

Among the subjects offered at Greenwich are business, computing, law, mathematics, creative arts, social sciences and drama.

The local area has many attractions. You can enjoy acres of parkland with panoramic views of the City of London, river cruises, cable car rides, the O2 Arena, museums, the popular Greenwich market, beautiful buildings and a buzzing nightlife.

Avery Hill Campus is a few miles down the road in Eltham, south-east London. This is where our Student Village, which includes accommodation, is located. The campus has the latest computing and laboratory equipment and a well-resourced library. Trainee health professionals also benefit from clinical skills laboratories such as our NHS replica ward.

Sport is a major part of university life, and two new floodlit all-weather sports pitches costing £1.7 million are the latest additions to Avery Hill’s first-class sporting facilities.

The campus is home to the Faculty of Education & Health, which includes teacher training programmes, social work, social care, midwifery, nursing and psychology.

Avery Hill students looking for a long day out can take a 30-minute bus ride into Greenwich, and then come home late on the night bus.

Medway Campus mixes Edwardian redbrick splendour with innovative state-of-the-art facilities, including a brand-new £4.6 million entertainment and social space for students. Located on the Kent coast about 35 miles from central London, the campus has good transport links, with frequent trains to London and a dedicated intercampus bus service to Avery Hill and Greenwich.

The campus includes modern laboratories for science, engineering and pharmacy students in the Faculty of Engineering & Science, plus extensive facilities for our student nurses and paramedics. The site also includes a huge library and five halls of residence.

Across the road from the campus, you’ll find the Dockside Outlet Centre, with shops offering top sports and fashion brands at discount prices, plus a nine-screen Odeon cinema, bars and restaurants. The attractive town of Rochester, with its Norman castle, 7th-century cathedral and cobbled streets, is a few miles away.
