Youll acquire both the management skills and the media expertise that you need to excel in the dynamic creative industries. This course also offers a two-year work experience route including a placement of up to 12 months.<br/><br/>**How You Learn** <br/><br/>Your studies will comprise four taught modules, as well as a major project alongside or within an organisation. Youll learn how to exploit the latest digital media technologies and platforms, across interactive, social and mobile content, as well as the management of digital media businesses, organisations and teams. Youll gain a solid theoretical grounding and useful practical experience - building an eye-catching portfolio to show prospective employers - and work with the award-winning employability team to enhance your employability and enterprise skills. <br/><br/>**Key themes**<br/><br/>You will begin by gaining a foundational understanding of the principles of digital media and its role in contemporary business and culture. This initial phase includes topics such as digital transformation and innovation. As you progress, you will delve into more specialised topics such as digital business and technologies, content creation, marketing, and user experience design, applying your knowledge through practical projects and case studies. In the final phase of the course, you will focus on a major research project or industry-based dissertation. This comprehensive journey equips you with the skills and insights necessary to lead and innovate in the fast-evolving digital media landscape.<br/><br/>**Applied learning**<br/><br/>**Work placements** <br/><br/>You will have the opportunity to go on a work placement for up to 12 months. You are supported in finding placements and can apply for a vacancy as you would like a job. There are dedicated sessions and support from our Careers and Employability team to support you in CV writing, interview skills, and job applications and careers fairs.<br/><br/>**Live projects** <br/><br/>Throughout the course, you will be expected to work on real client briefs, providing you vital industry experience and material for your portfolio. Previously students have worked with a range of clients and sectors such as the Data and Marketing Association, Instagram, Royal Mail, KFC, Sheffield City Council, The Economist, Whyte & Mackay and St Luke’s hospice.<br/><br/>**Field trips** <br/><br/>During the course you will visit digital agencies and creative studios to gain insight on the latest industry practice and opportunities. Previously our students have visited companies such as Hydra Creative, Objective, Google, Quba Creative and Four Agency.<br/><br/>**Networking opportunities** <br/><br/>The superb industry links, projects, site visits and field trips involved in this course provide ample networking opportunities. <br/><br/>Industry days and events are also held on campus and within the Sheffield Cultural Industries Quarter, where youll take part in workshops, talks, and exhibitions held by creative media industry representatives, professionals, and companies/ organisations. These activities give a window to the world of work and opportunities that lie ahead.
