**Please check the Sheffield Hallam University website for the latest information.**<br/><br/>**Course Summary**<br/><br/>Gain expertise in resolving sporting disputes and understand the regulation of sporting activities and relationships – via negotiation, arbitration, pre-trial behaviour and litigation. <br/><br/><br/>- Understand, analyse, critically evaluate and unlock complex sporting disputes.<br/><br/><br/>- Learn how to effectively advise and represent real clients.<br/><br/><br/>- Apply this to pre-trial behaviour, written and oral submissions, applications for disclosure, witness statements (including examination) and advocacy at the hearing.<br/><br/><br/>- Gain expertise in either football law or anti-doping law and present a case to a sporting judicial forum.<br/><br/><br/>This course offers expertise in the practice and procedure before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), FIFAs Football Tribunal, the National Anti-Doping Panel in the UK and other disciplinary courts and tribunals. You’ll focus on the effective representation of the client in the resolution of complex sporting disputes.<br/><br/>**How You Learn**<br/><br/>All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.<br/><br/>On a course that’s designed and delivered by internationally-recognised experts, you’ll explore a wide range of case studies – with a continuous analysis of the practical aspects of sports law. <br/><br/>You learn through:<br/><br/><br/>- online modules with live and synchronous taught delivery<br/><br/><br/>- recorded sessions<br/><br/><br/>- self–directed study and research<br/><br/><br/>- peer review and teamwork<br/><br/><br/>- coursework<br/><br/><br/>- viva examination<br/><br/><br/>You’ll analyse anti-doping litigation and football contracts with a focus on employment disputes involving intermediaries – as well as players and clubs, European competition law aspects, injuries on and off the field, intellectual property rights, sponsorship contracts, negotiation and alternative dispute resolution. You’ll also have shadowing and mentoring opportunities.<br/><br/>You can start the full-time and part-time courses in September or the part-time course in January. This gives you real-world experience to prepare you for your future career. You’ll also be provided with shadowing opportunities with our expert tutors, in sport-related disputes.<br/><br/>Networking opportunities:<br/><br/>Participate in conferences and meet with other sports lawyers, sports agents and officials from sports governing bodies – via our external partners.<br/><br/>Competitions:<br/><br/>You’ll have a chance to take part in the annual National Sports Law Negotiation Competition – of which Sheffield Hallam students were winners in 2017.
