Youll study the work of performance artists and companies, and learn how to develop your individual identity as a performance practitioner.<br/><br/>**How you learn**<br/><br/>Youll study a range of topics and approaches that will underpin and further enable your own performance work. These modules will help you to shape your own ideas and learn from other performance artists and companies. Upon graduating, youll have discovered, re-discovered and developed a distinctive, informed professional practice.<br/><br/>The course is designed to fit around people with existing employment and/or industry commitments. Teaching will take place in the evenings and at weekends with some content available online, as a supplement to your learning and research.<br/><br/>You learn through<br/>•lectures<br/>•group discussion<br/>•independent learning<br/>•practical workshops<br/>•tutorials<br/>•self-directed research<br/>•online resources<br/>•creative retreats<br/><br/>**Applied learning**<br/>**Live projects**<br/><br/>Students are expected to complete their studies with a signature project, whether this takes the form of a performance event, digital or physical archive, a presentation or talk, written thesis, or some other creative format (in negotiation with your tutors).<br/><br/>**Field trips**<br/><br/>This course incorporates two intensive weekends away for focused collaborative exploration of practice and ideas. There are also four full day sessions held at the City Campus of Sheffield Hallam University and/or the Nicholls Campus of UCEN Manchester.<br/><br/>**Collaborative learning**<br/><br/>This unique, collaborative MA is delivered between Sheffield Hallam University and UCEN Manchester. This transpennine connection, and the twinning of our institutions, allows you to reflect on and enhance your performance practice — creating dialogues with new people, in new settings.
