You will spend a fairly even amount of time studying each subject area, with possible opportunities to declare a major – minor towards the end of your studies.<br/><br/>**International Relations**<br/>International Relations is approached through diverse world lenses which explore and critique significant and urgent global issues and their responses today.<br/>The breadth and depth of this course, coupled with the international research and teaching expertise of staff, provides students with a strong foundation in international relations from multiple world perspectives. Students will be introduced to real world examples, and theoretical and practical approaches to the key issues in international relations today.<br/>A unique blend of theoretical and practical skills are gained through the course to enable graduates to contribute to an understanding of the changing nature of the world around us. We offer students the opportunity to realise their full intellectual potential in a safe environment that is conducive to learning and debate.<br/>This is an internationally research-informed course that offers students multiple world perspectives on the key global issues affecting the world today. The programme team comprises active researchers and specialists who are committed to providing a transformative and world-informed education that contributes to greater global citizenship. Our passionate International Relations team share a number of research awards and local and international teaching awards.<br/><br/>**Spanish**<br/>Increase your knowledge of one of the most widely spoken global languages, as you discover the language, culture, politics and society of contemporary Spain and Latin America.<br/>Develop your language skills to a very high level, and study a range of cultural and historical contexts. You will be taught in a dynamic department, located in a purpose built building that includes three digital language laboratories and a dedicated resources room, with all modules taught as workshops.<br/>In your first year, you will have the opportunity to study a further language from scratch, and our Languages For All programme allows you to also study one of eleven languages at a range of levels in addition to your degree. Fees are fully reimbursed on completion of the course.<br/>You will also have the opportunity to take a module in Teaching English as a Second Language which includes the Cambridge CELTA qualification.<br/>You will have an opportunity to undertake a five to eight-week placement in Spain or Costa Rica at the end of Year 2, as well as the opportunity to complete an academic year in Spain or Latin America. This allows you to split your experience abroad between two countries, spending time in both Spain and another Spanish speaking country, and to gain invaluable employment skills and knowledge of current affairs.
