Our degree helps you to understand how this happens - and the opportunities to get involved.<br/><br/><strong>Understand the theory</strong><br/>You’ll look at screen media beyond the TV and film sets:<br/><br/><br/>- as an economic sector and a place to work<br/><br/><br/>- how media industries have developed and how they operate around the world<br/><br/><br/>- who are the audiences and how are they changing<br/><br/><br/>- how the media reflects diverse societies and influences them<br/><br/><br/>- how creative decisions are made and who decides how and what stories get told<br/><br/><br/>- the impact of new platforms and new technologies<br/><br/><br/>• As you progress through the course you’ll specialise and build work around your own ideas.<br/><br/><br/><br/><strong>Industry insights</strong><br/>We’re not a technical training course but use practical coursework to help you understand the theory. You might:<br/><br/><br/>- develop your own movie franchise to pitch to a studio to help understand globalisation, ethics and financing<br/><br/><br/>- film and edit a short to appreciate storytelling and production roles<br/><br/><br/>- create and carry out your own audience surveys to assess reactions and product developments<br/><br/><br/>We have a full programme of industry guests from a wide range of companies and roles.<br/><br/>They’ll offer you a window into the range of opportunities available in the creative sector.<br/><br/>By the end of the degree you’ll have gained new perspectives and learnt new ways to look at the films, shows and games you love.<br/><br/><strong>Hollywood Internships programme</strong><br/>This course is perfect for a career in the creative industries. At Nottingham, you can gain valuable experience through internships, placements, and work opportunities. No more so though than with our prestigious Hollywood Internships programme, unique to Nottingham. Previous internships have involved:<br/><br/><br/>• First-reading of incoming film and television scripts<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Collecting audience data and preparing evaluation reports<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Filming interviews with Hollywood veterans for the archive<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Training, masterclasses, professional lectures and panels<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Working front of house at special screenings and industry events<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Indicative partner organisations include A24, CAA, Disney, Warner, Paramount, Sony, Lionsgate, UTA, and WME.<br/><br/><br/><br/>Our partners, and the number and nature of the internships, change each year. Vacancies are advertised in the Autumn term for students in years two and above. These are highly competitive positions, and places are not guaranteed.
