Our BSc Economics and Finance **(with Foundation Year)** course offers a strong combination of essential business and finance topics alongside the core elements of an economics degree.<br/><br/>Many academics within the School of Economics are advisers to world-renowned organisations, meaning our teaching and research is at the forefront of the field and is influenced by real industry insights.<br/><br/>You will study how the business and finance sectors operate, their role in modern economics and the essential tools for analysing them.<br/><br/>This course is developed around a framework of core economics and quantitative principles, providing you with a strong set of analytical skills that are highly relevant to the worlds of business and finance.<br/><br/>You will also build your analytical problem-solving capabilities, develop quantitative and data analysis proficiency, improve your computing skills and polish your written and oral presentation talents. These skills are highly sought-after in today’s challenging economic environment, as organisations and financial institutions strive to solve increasingly complex problems.<br/><br/>We’re always looking to make it easier to access the education we offer, so we have launched the option of taking a degree with a foundation year.<br/><br/>A foundation year is an extra year of study at the start of your course that leads in to a full degree programme. It’s a great option if:<br/><br/>• You don’t have the grades for a full degree course<br/>• You have non-traditional qualifications or experience<br/>• You’re starting university after some time away from education<br/>• You’re looking for more support during the transition into university study.<br/><br/>During a foundation year you’ll learn about your chosen subject, develop your study skills and get used to university life. On successful completion of your foundation year, you’ll be ready to progress to the first year of your degree course.<br/><br/>As a foundation year student, you’ll be a full student of the University and part of our community. You’ll have access to all our campus facilities and support.
