The Higher National Engineering awards are designed to provide each student with engineering knowledge and understanding appropriate to their engineering interests, employment and vocational needs.

BTECs are work-related qualifications for students taking their first steps into employment, or for those already in employment and seeking career development opportunities. BTECs provide progression into the workplace either directly or via study at university and are also designed to meet employers’ needs. Therefore, Pearson BTEC Higher National qualifications are widely recognised by industry and higher education as the principal vocational qualification at Levels 4 and 5.

There is now a greater emphasis on employer engagement and work readiness. The new BTEC Higher National qualifications in Engineering are designed to reflect this increasing need for high quality professional and technical education pathways at Levels 4 and 5. These qualifications provide students with a clear pathway to employment, appropriate support during employment and a recognised progression route to gain the further learning required at Level 6 to achieve Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration or to the final stages of a degree.

Applicants should have successfully completed a HNC in Engineering (RQF) with units including Maths, Science, Design and Project. Due to changes made by the examining body, applicants who have successfully completed the HNC in Engineering (QCF) can no longer progress onto the HND in General Engineering (RQF) course, unless they have successfully completed the HNC in Engineering (RQF) qualification.

It is possible to study this course as an apprentice. If you already work for an employer who wants to sponsor your apprenticeship, then you need to ask them to call our Business Development Team on 0330 135 6940 or email employerenquiries@wcg.ac.uk to ensure that the relevant paperwork is completed.

**This course is delivered by Warwickshire College and awarded by Pearson.**

For our Higher Education Terms and Conditions please visit https://wcg.ac.uk/page/701/terms-and-conditions
