University of Cambridge

Freshers week was mostly organised by College and it had a variety of events for all kinda of people, mixing people from all subjects. At the CS department we have only had one ice breaker activity in groups which was alright, nothing particularly good or bad about that. Almost everyone lives in their College's accommodation, either on or off site, and everyone in College accommodation lives alone (not sharing their room with anyone else). Some rooms have ensuite bathrooms, some rooms are sets (so bedroom + lounge), some accommodation blocks also have common rooms. There are many options at a range of prices, usually between £1000-2000 per term. Also varies by College Libraries are fantastic study spaces, both the College ones and the University one. Some departments also have great dept libraries, but not the Computer Science department. In terms of books, you can either find anything you need or ask for them to buy it. Student union is very strong. Sports areas are great and available upon paying a membership fee Intense both in depth and breadth, excellent dedicated lecturers, solid mix of theory and practice, great materials to learn from at most courses, fantastic supervision system. Supervisions are by far the best part of Cambridge undergrad. While there are also local people in the city, students spend most of their time in the student part of the city, around Colleges. It's great to see a lot of University people wherever you go, while also having a large variety of restaurants, cafes, shops

I thoroughly enjoyed my journey through the history of art curriculum at Cambridge University. The course was both intellectually stimulating and demanding, providing a challenging yet fascinating academic experience. The teaching was exceptional, with knowledgeable and passionate teachers who fostered a deep appreciation for the subject matter. Additionally, the university provided a supportive environment that allowed me to excel in my studies. Overall, my time at Cambridge studying art history was a truly enriching and rewarding experience.

It was really enjoyable, a great range of subject related as well as more general welfare activities which helped me meet a lot of people. It was also a great balance of the amount of compulsory activities and optional ones. Everyone was very patient and friendly. My accommodation was amazing, en suite single rooms which were small but cosy. We had washing facilities on site and our canteen was really close by. The library was amazing as it was cosy but open 24 hours so you could go at any time. Amazing range of books and helpful librarians. We have great sports facilities too that were easy to book. You had the option to choose what you wanted to write on. The lectures were really wide reaching and varied. Cambridge definitely seems like a student city, there are a few night clubs which have specific university nights and generally there are cafes and restaurants that are affordable. There is lovely greenery and I love that everyone cycles!

It was really fun - they arranged lots of opportunity for us students to get to know each other and there was something for everyonr Really good accommodation at Robinson college - big rooms and very modern All facilities were amazing and all using modern technology The course was very varied and provided lots of opportunities to specialise and pick modules based on interest. It also allowed one on one supervisions which were very helpful Cambridge is a lovely university city and is catered towards students - feels like a mini bubble away from the outside world

Very accommodating and great experience!

The entire experience has been incredible. Everyone has been so lovely and there have been tons of chances to get to know people through societies at both college and university levels. If there is something you want to do, there is an opportunity to do it. The workload is big but manageable and the content is always interesting and pushes you to think in ways you haven't before. I couldn't imagine a better course or university.

I had a lovely time studying Master of Law at the University of Cambridge. I met people from all across the world and had deep, meaningful conversations with them. Although my time at Cambridge was during the depth of pandemic, I felt truly at home with warm, welcoming collegiate community.

Although fresher's week at Cambridge only lasts a few days, and it all happened very quickly, overall it was enjoyable. There was a lot on offer, and I balanced my time between social events, traditions and getting to know the city logistically. It depends largely on which of the 31 colleges you are at, but at mine accommodation is provided by college on the main site for the duration of my degree. We get to choose a room every year based on a balloting order, and rooms range from older and larger to the brand new building, with everyone having their own preference. Overall it is fantastic. The facilities at Cambridge are world-class. Each college and department have their own fully stocked library, and the university library is unparalleled. Lecture theatres vary, my subject is quite small and so lectures never have more than 30 or so attendees. In my experience, lecture facilities could be improved to be more comfortable for history of art. The depth of choice in courses and electives encompassing a wide range of epochs and cultures. The lecturers are also incredibly distinguished academics in the field. Cambridge is a relatively small city, but is an incredible place to live. The history and traditions involved with the university experience at Cambridge are really special and the city provides the perfect backdrop for these experiences. Everything is accessible in the centre of town, and cars are not allowed on many streets which makes everything quite quaint and charming.

Very busy meeting new people and getting to know a new place. A little scary not having anyone from home to talk to in person. College accommodation is very nice with good furnishings. The kitchens in main college are very small but offsite are pretty large. The libraries are really good as they are 24/7 and the librarians can order any book you ask for. The classrooms are nice as they are large and traditional. Medicine is good as it is very science based and there are usually in person dissections. There are also practicals which are hands on and put into context the theory we learn. Cambridge is very tight knit as a university city, with lovely shops for everything you need. There are plenty of restaurants or cafes to choose from, and there is a nice market in the market square to buy food, clothes, books and more.
