Education and Psychology BA

The way we develop and learn as children underpins our entire lifespan. This degree will give you a sound understanding of Psychology in an educational context. You’ll explore learning, memory, thinking and language, as well as the problems encountered by young people in education - things like learning difficulties and social or emotional problems. In the first year you will study the core areas of cognitive, social, psychobiology and developmental psychology. The BA (Hons) in Education and Psychology is a popular course combining two complementary disciplines. Within the Education modules, the course enables you to gain an understanding of educational theories, policies and practice, and apply these to past and present educational issues such as influences on the development of the education system, approaches to teaching and learning, the curriculum, and learners with disabilities. Your modules may include learning difficulties and social or emotional problems, enhancing childrens learning and enabling teachers to become more aware of the social factors affecting teaching and learning.
