Our Computing with Creative Design degree, run in collaboration with the Product Design course in the Cardiff School of Art and Design, will enable you to develop your computing skills with a particular focus on the creative and design opportunities that are presented within the discipline.

In addition to learning the fundamentals of developing computer-based and software-driven systems, you will be encouraged to incorporate modern product design thinking into your technical work. The course will introduce you to a wide range of technologies and tools that facilitate the design and creation of new hardware and software solutions, helping you develop your analytical abilities whilst looking at product design processes. This will enable you to establish yourself as a ‘hybrid’ individual, well equipped to bridge the gap between the technical and creative worlds to create innovative solutions to problems old and new.

Given the growing application of digital technology across all sectors and domains, professionals who marry the skills of creativity and design with the ability to build reliable and supportable software are increasingly in demand. This course will enable you to achieve this interdisciplinary skillset, providing access to opportunities across a variety of sectors and fields such as the arts, entertainment/games, mobile app development, multimedia, product/web design and other interactive systems.

We offer this programme with two study options. You can choose three years full-time or four years full-time which would include a one-year professional placement between years two and three that will give you hands-on experience in a real-life working environment.
