This includes the development and functioning of the Immune system which protects us from pathogens. It helps explain what goes wrong in disease and, for example, in Immunology why we may develop debilitating autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis. <br/><br/>In this degree programme we combine Genetics and Immunology, aiming to instil a broad base of knowledge at molecular, cellular and organismal levels. Additionally, students will gain an in depth understanding of selected aspects of Genetics and Immunology which will reflect the research expertise and strengths within the School, and will be instructed in the many applications of these subjects.<br/><br/>**5 year MSci degree**<br/>This degree offers you the opportunity to undertake a years placement in an industrial, commercial or research environment and graduate after five years with an MSci (an undergraduate Masters degree) instead of a BSc.<br/><br/>**We are ranked 1st in the UK for Anatomy and Physiology in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023.**
