Testing before going live

How the pre-go-live test session works, what a CRM sandbox is, and how to re-test after credential rotation.

Before any real prospect lead is sent to your CRM, we run a short joint test session. This page explains how it works and how to participate.

What the test looks like

We trigger a dedicated test workflow on our side that pushes a small handful of clearly-marked synthetic leads into your CRM using the credentials you supplied. Each test contact carries all the same fields a real prospect would, with values that make it obvious this is test data.

Worked example: synthetic test contact

A typical test contact that lands in your CRM during the test session carries:

First name: Test
Last name: User Alpha
Email: test+yourname+001@example.com
Phone: 07700 900000
Postcode: SW1A 1AA
Study Level: undergraduate
Start Year: 2026
Subject Area: Test Course
Lead type: student-enquiry
Marketing flag: true
Enquiry message: "This is a Uni Compare integration test contact. Please delete after verification."

What "sandbox" means

A "sandbox" is a separate copy of your CRM environment that mirrors your production setup but does not affect your live customer data. Most major CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365) provide one as part of their standard offering. If you do not have a CRM sandbox available, we run the test in your production CRM with marked test contacts that you delete after verification.

How the session works

  1. We push the synthetic test leads into your CRM sandbox.

  2. You verify the test contacts appeared with the expected fields populated correctly.

  3. We adjust the field mapping together if anything looks wrong.

  4. When you sign off, we activate the live feed.

The session typically takes 30 minutes to one hour.

Re-testing later

The test workflow stays available indefinitely and can be re-triggered any time. For example, after rotating credentials or changing field mapping. After credential rotation we recommend a quick re-test (typically under fifteen minutes) before assuming the new credential works in production.

To schedule a re-test, email clients@universitycompare.com or use the chat widget at the bottom-right of this page.
