You can specialise in human geography or physical geography, or combine elements of both.<br/><br/>You will also have the opportunity to go on field trips and to work with partner organisations to help them solve real-world problems.<br/><br/>Our teaching is based on the research carried out in the department and is focused on three broad themes: creating just communities and places, shaping environmental futures, and geospatial and digital methods.<br/><br/>You will cover specialisms within these themes including:<br/><br/><br/>- health and wellbeing<br/><br/><br/>- city futures<br/><br/><br/>- geopolitics and power<br/><br/><br/>- tourism and globalisation<br/><br/><br/>- policing and security<br/><br/><br/>- hazards and risk<br/><br/><br/>We have our own teaching spaces, laboratory, field equipment, and specialist software like GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to support your learning.<br/><br/>Politics confronts the big issues that affect society. You’ll get an overview of the British political system as well as examine some of the most complex problems faced by humanity and the ideas that underpin them. You can study from optional modules on Russian, Irish, and Middle Eastern politics, nations and nationalism, political theories, and on human rights and humanitarian intervention.<br/><br/>You’ll develop the ability to think critically about outcomes and learn how to locate, analyse, and compare information to support or challenge those outcomes.
