Medical Informatics PhD

The Medical Informatics PhD programme enables you to engage in cutting-edge research on applications of computational methods to medicine and health care. <br/><br/>Examples include: <br/><br/><br/>- telehealth, mobile health, and telemedicine<br/><br/><br/>- computational medicine and simulation<br/><br/><br/>- applications of artificial intelligence<br/><br/><br/>- machine learning and natural language processing<br/><br/><br/>- the analysis of structured and unstructured health care data<br/><br/><br/>- surgical informatics<br/><br/><br/>- digital biomarkers and advanced methods of digital phenotyping<br/><br/><br/>- evaluation of health care technology in real-world settings<br/><br/><br/>• AI dependability in health care<br/><br/><br/><br/>- data ethics and digital governance<br/><br/><br/>There are a variety of methods from engineering, informatics, mathematics and social sciences.<br/><br/>The PhD in Medical Informatics is highly interdisciplinary, and its projects have explored application areas such as:<br/><br/><br/>- ehealth in global health contexts<br/><br/><br/>- early detection and assessment of neurodegenerative diseases<br/><br/><br/>- robotic surgery<br/><br/><br/>- serious mental illnesses<br/><br/><br/>- biomedicine and biology<br/><br/><br/>- cardiovascular disease<br/><br/><br/>- respiratory diseases<br/><br/><br/>- diabetes<br/><br/><br/>- multimorbidity<br/><br/><br/>These projects are often in cooperation with other schools, including the Schools of Informatics and Engineering.
