<strong>About the course</strong><br/><br/>BSc Children’s Nursing prepares you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children, young people and their families. Ranked in the top 10 in the UK for Nursing (Guardian University Guide 2024) and 2nd in the UK for student satisfaction (Complete University Guide 2025), the programme combines high quality teaching with hands-on clinical experience.<br/><br/>On successful completion, you will be eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Children’s Nurse. Throughout your three years, you will work towards meeting NMC standards of proficiency and develop the values of the NHS Constitution, including compassion, dignity and respect.<br/><br/>You will gain a strong understanding of family centred care, the principles of caring for children and young people, complex and critical care, and the equal importance of physical and mental health.<br/><br/>Home students are eligible for a non repayable £5,000 NHS bursary per academic year, with additional support available in certain circumstances.<br/><br/><strong>What you’ll study</strong><br/><br/>You will build knowledge in children’s nursing practice, life sciences and health promotion, developing confidence in assessment, care planning and clinical decision making.<br/><br/>Modules may include:<br/><br/>• Foundations of Children’s Nursing<br/><br/>• Fundamentals of Life Sciences<br/><br/>• Promoting Health and Preventing Ill-Health<br/><br/>• Practice Learning<br/><br/>Modules are subject to validation by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).<br/><br/><strong>How you’ll learn</strong><br/><br/>Your training combines classroom study with immersive practical experience. Teaching includes lectures, seminars, group work, online learning and reflective practical sessions led by experienced academics and clinicians.<br/><br/>You will practise in Clinical Simulation Centres before applying your skills on placement. Learning places equal emphasis on physical and mental health, and you will study alongside other healthcare professionals to develop a broad understanding of modern, integrated care.<br/><br/>Professional placements take place across NHS Trusts, community services, primary care, mental health providers and specialist settings. An elective placement abroad may also be available.<br/><br/><strong>Future opportunities</strong><br/><br/>A BSc Children’s Nursing from Roehampton opens pathways across health and social care, including roles in:<br/><br/>• Children’s community nursing teams and school nursing<br/><br/>• General Practice Nursing<br/><br/>• Hospitals including wards, A&E, ITU and specialist children’s services<br/><br/>• Hospices and rehabilitation centres<br/><br/>• Specialist teams such as Respiratory, Oncology and Child Development<br/><br/>• Research and education<br/><br/><strong>Facilities</strong><br/><br/>You will train in the purpose built Clinical Simulation Centre at Froebel College, including the Froebel Ward, mock consulting rooms and simulated home environments equipped with high tech patient simulators.<br/><br/>You will also use the Mary Seacole Health Innovation Centre, providing a realistic and supportive environment to develop your skills before applying them in real world placements.

A level, International Baccalaureate, relevant Access to HE diplomas and BTEC extended diploma qualifications. One subject must be science or health-related.
