You’ll explore five key themes: Health Inequalities and Social Justice, Epidemiology and Research Methods, Public Health Policy and Leadership, Health Promotion and Community Engagement, and Global and Environmental Health. Alongside core modules and a final research project, you’ll deepen your understanding of population health, data analysis, ethics and systems-level change. Learning goes beyond lectures and includes collaborative workshops, real-world case studies and opportunities to engage with local partners and experts by experience. Personalised academic support and mentoring will guide your development at every stage, helping you to build a confident, inclusive professional identity.<br/><br/>The MPH is aligned with the UK Public Health Knowledge and Skills Framework and promotes the standards identified in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) Code of Practice. While it does not currently offer formal exemptions from external bodies, the course provides a robust foundation for professional development and career progression. Graduates are well suited to roles in the NHS, local authorities, charities and international organisations, with opportunities in health promotion, education, research, policy and community development. The programme also supports progression to doctoral study or specialist public health training.<br/><br/>Here at Birmingham Newman, we are experts in inclusive teaching and learning practice, and we aim to provide a supportive learning environment on our MPH course that can help our students reach their full potential. This is why our MPH course is delivered face-to-face on our university campus, that overlooks the picturesque Bartley Reservoir. You will be supported in using our state of the art facilities and online learning environment, whilst benefiting from time in the classroom with our public health experts.
