Information systems allow businesses to co-operate with their suppliers and customers to provide mutual benefit.**<br/><br/>This degree will enable you to develop specialist skills and in depth knowledge, so that you can play a key role supporting a wide range of businesses and sectors.<br/><br/>Youll learn how to analyse the requirements for new or replacement systems, and then gain hands-on experience in designing and implementing them. Both the theoretical and the practical skills that you need to design and build software systems to solve real commercial problems will be explored.<br/><br/>Alongside practical elements youll learn about legal requirements and ethical questions associated with the profession, meaning you’ll enter your career with a wide-ranging understanding of the subject.<br/><br/>During the degree youll develop your understanding of how an organisation, its people and its technology can improve business sustainability. As you learn about these three areas, youll be building your knowledge and putting it into practice through project work. A key feature of this course is learning how to talk the language of IT and Business, bringing both sides of an organisation together.<br/><br/>Following the CDIO - conceive, design, implement and operate - model of learning, youll cover all the elements of an IT project from conception, through design and implementation to final operation and review.<br/><br/>After completion of your second year you will have the opportunity to undertake year in industry to allow you to develop your knowledge and skills in a business or industrial setting. This allows you to build up the practical skills desired by employers and to demonstrate your capabilities on your CV.<br/><br/>**Location**<br/>This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. You’ll benefit from a campus with excellent learning and teaching resources, music venues, a superb sports centre, a well-stocked bookshop and plenty of coffee bars and places to eat.
