Offering valuable work placements which will boost your skills and confidence, this course will provide you with the academic, practical and research skills you need for further professional training in clinical psychology, counselling psychology, psychotherapy, clinical research, and health management. <br/><br/>You will be introduced to a range of approaches to psychological therapy and intervention, and will be supported to develop a range of therapeutic communication and intervention skills both in workshops and through work experience. <br/><br/><strong>Why study MSc Psychological Therapies and Interventions at Middlesex?</strong> <br/><br/>You will gain a range of skills in therapeutic communication, motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural intervention, and youll develop a reflective approach to the development of these skills. <br/><br/>Youll also develop the knowledge and skills required to critically assess research in therapeutic psychology and be able to undertake novel research in an area relating to psychological therapies or interventions. <br/><br/>In addition, youll be introduced to a wide range of approaches to psychological therapies, youll focus on the effects of trauma and trauma interventions, and youll have the chance to undertake a clinically relevant psychology placement. <br/><br/><strong>What will you learn?</strong> <br/><br/>As part of the masters degree, you will also acquire the knowledge and skills required to critically assess research in therapeutic psychology and to carry out your own research on a topic that is relevant to psychological therapies or interventions. Youll be taught by staff who are therapy practitioners and researchers in mental health, psychological wellbeing and trauma. <br/><br/>There is also the option of undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychological Therapies and Interventions (which involves completing all modules except the dissertation module, and gaining 120 credits) or undertaking a PG Certificate in Psychological Interventions (gaining 60 credits through completion of two modules; the Counselling and Psychotherapy, and Trauma Impact and Interventions modules). <br/><br/>This course offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through a 100-hour supervised placement undertaken during the academic year, where psychological knowledge and therapeutic techniques are applied in a workplace context dedicated to mental health and well-being.
