Good mental health during adolescence is a national and international priority. This course was developed to provide a more in-depth understanding of adolescence as a unique development period and to increase the specialist knowledge and skills of those who work with (or want to work with) adolescents across a range of settings. The course offers a unique combination of modules that take a strengths-based perspective and provide focused training in theoretical and practical issues that are directly relevant to the mental wellbeing of adolescents. It provides a balance of theoretical and practical elements and therefore provides students with the opportunity to improve their understanding and apply their knowledge to practical situations and problems, including the opportunity to undertake a professional placement with a relevant organisation.

This programme is aimed primarily at graduates of psychology and relevant disciplines, but those without a psychology background will also be able to utilise the skills they gain from this programme to go into careers in the health and social care sector.

Note: this course does not confer eligibility for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the British Psychological Society.
