This multidisciplinary Computer Systems Engineering degree sits at the cutting-edge boundary between computers and electronics. It responds to the need for increased computing performance in applications such as high-performance computing, mobile computing and embedded systems.<br/><br/>You’ll cover the essentials in electronics, computer architecture, computer operating and programming, before progressing to advanced computing technologies, embedded systems, devices and networks. We emphasise your personal and professional development in areas such as professional practice, ethics, and sustainability.<br/><br/>Optional modules in your final year give you flexibility to deepen your knowledge in specialised areas, such as control systems or computer and network security.<br/><br/>The Industrial Projects and Individual Project modules provide opportunities to apply your learning to real-life scenarios, building the same skills you’ll use to tackle workplace projects. Our optional placement year offers a chance gain additional extended work experience.<br/><br/>During your studies at Bangor, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including two open-use computer labs, a large networking laboratory and lots of collaborative working spaces designed for group work.<br/><br/>You’ll use industry-standard software, such as Intel® FPGA, MATLAB and gain practical experience using technologies like high-end networks, very large-scale integration (VLSI).<br/><br/>You’ll be taught by academics at the forefront of research into high-speed digital technologies, AI and data visualisation, IoT and embedded systems used in applications ranging from medical devices to automotive systems.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
