Our BA (Hons) Modern Languages with Foundation Year provides an alternative route into undergraduate study if you don’t meet the entry requirements to begin the standard four-year degree.

Our BA (Hons) Modern Languages with Foundation Year provides an alternative route into undergraduate study if you don’t meet the entry requirements to begin the standard four-year degree.<br/><br/>The Foundation Year (Year 0) offers you the chance to expand and strengthen your confidence, skills and knowledge – ensuring that you are well-prepared and qualified to progress into Year 1 of the Modern Languages degree programme. <br/><br/>The additional foundation year helps you better prepare for degree-level study, giving you a taste of learning at this higher level. You’ll join a close-knit, supportive learning community with easy access to lecturers. Depending on your language proficiency, we offer separate streams in first year for beginners/near beginners or those who are more advanced. During the foundation year you’ll sample various methods of university learning, including seminars and tutorials. You’ll develop a range of academic and study skills, such as writing, communication, presentation and learn how to collaborate and work with others.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
