Music BMus (Hon)

At Bangor, making music and understanding music go hand in hand. Studying our BMus (Hons) Music degree you will be taught by world-renowned composers, performers and musicologists, who will encourage you to explore the connections between all three fundamental aspects of musical study.<br/><br/>Focused exclusively on music, the BMus provides a guided study route, developing your skills in critical thinking, problem-solving and collaboration. Supported by renowned composers, you will have opportunities to develop your own compositional skills in a range of styles and media. You can also choose to hone your performance skills, as a soloist or as a member of an ensemble. You can explore the history and development of your favourite genres, discover new styles and repertoires, and learn more about the art and craft of music. Taking part in regular workshops, guest talks, performances and concerts will improve your skills as a musician, performer, composer or musicologist.<br/><br/>Our extensive music facilities on campus include two professional standard concert halls, rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, and electroacoustic composition and recording studios. You will also have access to dedicated performance and rehearsal spaces in the Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre.<br/><br/>The BMus Music course is focused on exclusively music modules whilst our BA Music offers optional modules from other subjects.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time.
