Law with Economics

**The LLB Law with Economics is a highly distinctive and interdisciplinary programme. It allows you to study two areas of great significance in contemporary society by combining the study of Law with compulsory and optional modules in Economics.**<br/><br/>This is a qualifying Law degree, allowing you to pursue a career as a solicitor or barrister. It also equips you with key knowledge in Economics, making you a strong candidate for commercial and corporate law firms, financial institutions, government organisations, think tanks, NGOs and others.<br/><br/>**Why study LLB Law with Economics**<br/>- You’ll develop a solid understanding of common law, international law, legal institutions, legal methodologies, legal research and argumentation, as well as a good foundation of economic thinking.<br/><br/><br/>- You’ll be able to apply economic principles relevant to global developments and contemporary legal issues.<br/><br/><br/>- The interdisciplinary nature of this degree will help you stand out in a crowded job market. You’ll have the ability to encompass political, economic and legal perspectives, and bring practical application of expert knowledge and skillsets.<br/><br/><br/>- The degree is highly active. You’ll learn problem-solving, debating and advocacy, and visit leading commercial and corporate law firms, including ‘Magic Circle’ law firms and financial institutions.<br/><br/><br/>- You’ll obtain a sound understanding of key economic concepts, and alternative paradigms, by studying innovative modules ranging from Foundation of Economics to Crises and Market Failure. <br/><br/><br/>- You’ll develop specialist knowledge in cutting-edge areas at the intersection of Law, technology and economics. You’ll be able to take modules in ‘AI, Disruptive technologies and the Law’; ‘Art Law’; ‘Intellectual Property Law’; ‘Company Law and ‘Commercial Law and International Trade Agreements’.<br/><br/><br/>- You’ll put theory into action by taking a Law module focusing on crucial practical skills preparing students for the newly introduced Solicitors Qualifying Examination, and a dissertation project which will be on a subject spanning Law and Economics.<br/><br/><br/>- You’ll represent clients and defend cases (in fictional trials) as a solicitor or barrister specialised in commercial law, corporate law and Economics.<br/><br/><br/>- Your degree will be based in the Department of Law, but you’ll also have access to a range of exciting activities in our vibrant Institute of Management Studies.<br/><br/><br/>**Study 21st century Law, and Law in context**<br/>As well as compulsory modules that provide you with knowledge of Law and Economics, you’ll have the opportunity to choose from a wide range of specialist modules delivered by the Department of Law and the Institute of Management Studies such as Corporate Law or ‘Money, Banking and the Financial System’.<br/><br/>Our curriculum has been built for the modern landscape of Law and Economics, including subjects from ‘21st Century Legal Skills’ and ‘AI, Disruptive Technologies and the Law’ to ‘Finance and the Global Political Economy’ and ‘The Ethics of Economics and Environmental Protection’. <br/><br/>**Law and Policy Clinics**<br/>In Goldsmiths’ Law and Policy Clinics, students confront challenging societal issues through supervised legal research and public engagement activity. Youll also have unique access to the University of London’s Refugee Law Clinic as well as social welfare placements in law centres and legal advice clinics across London.<br/><br/>**Harvard Law School course**<br/>We’re the first Law department in the UK to offer free access to Harvard Law School’s pioneering Zero-L course.<br/><br/>**Student life and student support** <br/>Youll belong to a close-knit community, and are supported by a network which includes academic personal tutors, career advisers, disability officers and other student support staff. <br/><br/>**Study abroad, and our Athens Summer School**<br/>Our students have attended summer school at the University of Geneva and Amsterdam Law school and we organise an annual summer school in Athens with leading Universities there.
