Study Music at Liverpool Hope University in the heart of Liverpool, one of the world’s most iconic music cities in the world. Whether you’re passionate about performance, composition, music technology or simply how music functions in the world around us, this BA (Hons) Music degree gives you the freedom to develop your creativity while building the practical skills needed for a career in music.
You’ll explore different types of music including popular, classical, jazz, electronic and world music, learning from experienced lecturers who are active music professionals. Alongside lectures and seminars, you’ll receive one-to-one instrumental or vocal tuition every year and have opportunities to perform with university ensembles, collaborate with other musicians and engage with industry partners.
Based at Liverpool Hope’s Creative Campus, you’ll study in one of the UK’s few All-Steinway Music Schools, with access to professional rehearsal spaces, recording facilities and outstanding performance venues. This music degree combines creative freedom, expert teaching and real-world experience in a thriving musical city.
Music Production
Liverpool is a UNESCO City of Music, and studying Music Production at Liverpool Hope puts you right in the middle of its creative energy. The course blends songwriting, studio production, audio engineering and music technologies with hands‑on learning in professional-grade facilities used across the music industry. You’ll explore DAW production, audio for media, live sound, experimental music production and turntablism, supported by one‑to‑one tuition and teaching from practising industry professionals.
You'll work in specialist recording studios featuring professional preamps, a hands-on SSL Nucleus control surface for DAW-based workflow, a flexible network of interconnected editing suites, control rooms and live rooms, and a full microphone suite, gaining real experience in recording, editing, mixing and producing across genres. The course also connects you with Liverpool’s vibrant music scene through collaborations, guest masterclasses and creative projects.
Throughout your degree, you’ll build a strong creative identity, develop technical confidence, and learn how music production shapes today’s digital culture. With Liverpool’s global reputation for music and Hope’s specialist Creative Campus, this degree prepares you for the fast‑moving world of modern music creation.
