The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is designed for students who have completed high school or partial university education overseas and need additional support to prepare for a successful transition into academic studies at bachelor’s level at London Metropolitan University.<br/><br/>Why study the International Foundation Programme (IFP)?<br/><br/>The International Foundation Programme will help you to:<br/><br/><br/>- develop English language skills as necessary for academic studies<br/><br/><br/>- prepare for Level 4 (bachelor’s) study through the acquisition of academic skills and knowledge<br/><br/><br/>- develop as an independent, reflective learner<br/><br/><br/>- develop effective self-management and personal awareness skills<br/><br/><br/>- become equipped with subject knowledge critical for successful higher education study<br/><br/><br/>- become an active user of learning technologies widely used in the UK higher education environment<br/><br/><br/>- What is the course structure for the International Foundation Programme?<br/><br/><br/>The International Foundation Programme contains two modules: Academic Preparation Programme Part 1 (60 credits) and Academic Preparation Programme Part 2 (60 credits)<br/><br/>Both modules are core for all IFP pathways for the following subjects:<br/><br/><br/>- Accounting, economics and finance<br/><br/><br/>- Business and management<br/><br/><br/>- Computing and IT<br/><br/><br/>- Criminology<br/><br/><br/>- Education (excluding early childhood studies)<br/><br/><br/>- Electronic and computer network engineering<br/><br/><br/>- Film and television production/studies<br/><br/><br/>- Health and social care<br/><br/><br/>- Journalism<br/><br/><br/>- Law<br/><br/><br/>- Media, marketing and communications<br/><br/><br/>- Politics and international relations<br/><br/><br/>- Psychology<br/><br/><br/>- Sociology<br/><br/><br/>- Travel, tourism and events management<br/><br/><br/>You can progress on to one of our standard three-year full-time bachelor’s courses in selected subject areas only. Top-up degrees and accelerated degrees are not included. We are unable to guarantee progression on to courses in our School of Art, Architecture and Design or School of Human Sciences, as well as some programmes in our other academic schools, due to the non-standard entry requirements for these courses.<br/><br/>This course will be taught over two semesters each 12 weeks – with a total of 24 weeks teaching time. The overall length of this course is around eight months.
