Marine Biology with a Foundation Year Bachelor of Science (with Honours) - BSc (Hons)

If you don’t quite have the grades needed to enter the BSc Marine Biology programme, then this 4-year undergraduate degree, which includes an integrated Foundation Year, could be for you.

A Foundation Year is a great way to gain the knowledge and skills needed to embark on to the BSc Marine Biology programme; you will be introduced to key themes of study, as well as having many opportunities to pick up new study skills that will be of use to you throughout your time at Swansea University. The Foundation Year is also flexible, and allows you to enter any of our Biosciences programmes on completion, should your ambitions change during the year.

Due to vital ongoing issues with our oceans, an academic understanding of ocean life across the world has never been more important. This Marine Biology degree is highly practical and fieldwork-based. When combined with our unique location, this gives you ideal access to a variety of study habitats to explore during your degree, which include exposed rocky shores, steep cliffs salt marshes and estuarine mudflats; all on the Gower Peninsula, which was the UK’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
