University Summary

The University of Warwick (informally known as Warwick University or Warwick) is a public research university located in Coventry, United Kingdom. It was founded in 1965 as part of a government initiative to expand access to higher education. Warwick Medical School was opened in 2000.

Warwick is primarily located on a 290-hectare cutting-edge campus on the outskirts of Coventry, with an additional site inWellesbourne. It is organised into four faculties—Arts, Medicine, Science and Social Sciences—within which there are approximately 30 departments. Warwick has around 23,400 full-time students and 1,390 academic and research staff and had a total income of £419.1 million in 2010/11, of which £86.3 million came from research grants and contracts.

Warwick has a strong reputation in the UK for research and excellent links with industry. Warwick describes itself as a “research-led institution” and in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, it was ranked 7th in the UK amongst multi-faculty institutions. Warwick regularly ranks in the top ten in all major rankings of British universities and is one of five universities that have never been ranked outside of the top ten. Entrance is highly competitive, with around 8.25 applicants per place for undergraduate study. According to a High Fliers Research study, Warwick is the most targeted university by top employers. Warwick was ranked by QS as the world’s 7th best university based on employer’s surveys.

As a student enrolled on the Warwick IFP, you’ll have full access to all of the resources and facilities available at the University of Warwick. That means you get the best of both worlds – expert intensive classroom-based tuition alongside on-campus teaching and learning to get you ready for degree-level study.

All of our courses will help prepare you for undergraduate study on a range of degrees at the University of Warwick and other leading UK universities. Through our guaranteed conditional offers to a wide range of undergraduate courses at Warwick, students have progressed to degrees as diverse as Accounting and Finance, Engineering, Law and Sociology.

As part of your course, you’ll also study Academic Skills in English – helping you prepare for undergraduate study in the UK – alongside up to 5 hours per week of intensive English language classes, to help prepare you for an IELTS examination.
