Do you want to make a real difference in people’s lives by helping them communicate and connect with the world?<br/><br/>Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs) are professionals who help children and adults who have difficulties with communication or eating, drinking or swallowing.<br/><br/>Our BSc (Hons) Speech and Language Therapy course offers you the knowledge, clinical skills, and confidence to become a compassionate and capable healthcare professional.<br/><br/>This course is due to be accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). When you graduate from this course, you will be eligible to apply for registration as a Speech and Language Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).<br/><br/>Throughout the course, you will explore:<br/><br/>Anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience of communication and swallowing<br/>Language development and disorders<br/>Phonetics and phonology<br/>Clinical linguistics<br/>Eating, drinking, and swallowing competencies<br/>Evidence-based assessment and intervention<br/>Interprofessional collaboration and leadership in health and care.

Preferably to include a core science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics). If a candidate is not sitting any of the core sciences at A Level, we will also consider other relevant subjects, such Psychology A-level. In these cases, applicants would need strong performance in a core science at GCSE level (7 or above) . For Biology, Chemistry and Physics A Levels, we require a pass in the practical element.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

BTEC Applied Science preferred. Applicants are considered on an individual basis, but BTEC modules studied must include at least 180 GLH in Physiology/Anatomy.
GCSE/National 4/National 5
English, mathematics and a science at grade 4 or better.
Extended Project
The University positively welcomes the Extended Project Qualification and this will be taken into account in offers.
