<strong>Overview</strong><br/>If you’re fascinated by the complexity of mathematics and you enjoy statistics, our BSc Mathematics and Statistics with a Placement Year degree will equip you with a broad range of skills in both disciplines, and give you a head start in the job market with real-word experience. This degree includes elements of data analytics, financial statistics, and modelling. Our graduates find themselves with many exciting career options across a broad range of fields including science, technology, and finance. <br/><br/>This degree combines a strong mathematical foundation, with advanced study in both mathematics and statistics. You’ll study pure mathematics, applied mathematics and statistics, whilst also having the choice to tailor your degree by choosing topics from a wide range of optional modules. <br/><br/>You’ll spend your third year on a full-time placement lasting nine to 14 months, working for a business or organisation. You’ll put theoretical work into professional practice, gaining a real advantage for when you graduate. <br/><br/>Our lecturers are highly enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Most are also active researchers who conduct world-leading work that’s incorporated into their teaching. You’ll benefit from a high academic-staff-to-student ratio, ensuring that you graduate with a deep understanding of the subjects you’re learning. <br/><br/>Since the first year of this programme is common to the other Mathematics degrees we offer, it’s possible to transfer between courses at the end of your first year.
