You may need time to decide where your interests lie. If so, then our BA Modern Language with a Foundation Year is the perfect choice.

Join us for an intensive and exciting year of study. You can learn a new language, explore related subjects, and create a toolkit of essential academic skills.

We’ll encourage you to work towards your own individual goals in a supportive and rewarding learning environment. Youll study a range of academic subjects alongside developing your language skills. These might include Literature, History, Philosophy, Film, Media, History of Art and Politics. We’ll help you make links between different disciplines to spark your curiosity.

During your foundation year, you’ll have access to all the opportunities and facilities UEA has to offer. You can pursue your own language interests as part of your modules as well as outside of the classroom. Develop your communication skills with our in-house language lab or get involved with one of the language-based activities.

As your passion for language and communication studies grows, you’ll then be well-placed to progress to the degree that’s best for you. After successfully completing your foundation year, you’ll move onto BA Modern Language, studying one of French, Japanese or Spanish to degree level. Alternatively, you can request to transfer to another undergraduate course within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, subject to taking the required prerequisite modules. Use the foundation year to springboard onto the degree of your choice and take control of your future studies.

Disclaimer

Course details are subject to change.
