The FdSc in Biomedical Science intends to prepare students for the demands of working in a range of scientific environments, such as chemical, biological, or biomedical, and equipping students with the skills and knowledge to be attractive to employers. The course contains a balance of the knowledge requirements, along with the practical skill development through a theoretical delivery model, for students to work in the biological science industry at laboratory associate level/professional (or equivalent). The module content will support students to evidence the requirements to apply for professional registration as a registered science technician (RSciTech).

Students will study a range of laboratory linked modules and will complete their studies by completing a sector relevant project. The areas of study will provide a strong subject base and practical competence for either seeking related employment, progression within their current employer or going on to further study at level 6 (such as the BSc (Hons) Practical Life Sciences programme).
