You are taught primarily through a combination of lectures and seminars, allowing opportunities to discuss and develop your understanding of topics in groups. You are encouraged to access academic support from staff within the course team and the wide range of university services.<br/><br/>**Structure of Course**<br/><br/>In your first year, youll gain essential academic and digital skills, understanding Computational Thinking, mathematical concepts, and system design within organisations. Youll also develop practical programming for software solutions.<br/><br/>During your second year, youll enhance your research methods, including qualitative and quantitative skills and ethical awareness. Youll become a more confident programmer, deepen your database understanding, and explore quantitative models and computer hardware support for operating systems. An optional industry placement year is available between your second and third years.<br/><br/>Your final year offers an in-depth look at distributed systems and the Internet of Things (IoT), alongside high-performance computational simulation for real-world problems. Youll choose one of four Capstone Project options: Dissertation, Placement for Good, Consultancy Project, or Start Up For Good. You can also select optional modules to specialise your studies.<br/><br/>**Facilities**<br/><br/>You will access a wide range of specialist software and tools, including dedicated Cyber Security and Forensics, Networking, and Software Development laboratories in a state-of-the-art building.
