Our Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), 5 year degree programme is full-time and leads to a Primary Medical Qualification that will allow graduates to register provisionally with the General Medical Council (GMC).<br/><br/>This degree will prepare you for a rewarding career in the NHS as a foundation doctor and beyond. We have an integrated modern curriculum, where you’ll be on placement in primary and secondary care from the early months of your course. You’ll be given a robust foundation in the clinical sciences combined with clinical experience, leadership, quality improvement, innovation and technology for health.<br/>Your training for clinical experience will include placements in Primary Care, Mental Health, 5 Acute Care providers and tertiary units in Essex, such as the St Andrew’s Centre for Plastic Surgery and Burns and the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre. On campus teaching will take place in a cutting edge purpose built School of Medicine, fitted out with the latest laboratory equipment and cadaveric anatomy suite.<br/>Our curriculum is innovative, student-centred and community-based, which combined with the East of England location with a mix of urban and rural areas, offers a diverse and all-encompassing experience for medical students.<br/>We’ll build your knowledge up gradually and aspects of learning will be revisited throughout the duration of the course, so that links can be formed between scientific concepts, clinical practice and professionalism to deepen your understanding.

We currently accept any QAA accredited Access to Higher Education Diploma (Medicine) qualification. Applicants must have achieved 60 credits with a minimum of 45 credits at Level 3 of which at least 30 Level 3 credits must be at Distinction and, in addition 15 Level 3 credits must be at a minimum of Merit. The further 15 ungraded credits can be a combination of Level 2 and 3. Access qualifications should be awarded within two years prior to the year of entry applied for. A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grades A*-B (9-6) are also required including English Language, Maths and two science subjects. Applicants are encouraged to check with their educational provider that their qualification meets the necessary criteria for admission to the medical programme.
