It focuses on how people, businesses and governments interact with each other and their surroundings in the face of scarcity or adversity – how choices and decisions impact individuals and society. Governments use economic data to guide their response to pressing issues such as how to reduce public health costs. Businesses develop strategies on anything from pricing and advertising to investment in product development. For individuals, economics affects which house we can afford or how much we must save for retirement.

At Bangor University, you’ll join a close-knit community, making your learning experience more personal. Keeping course content relevant and interesting, teaching is driven by our world class research in topics ranging from financial economics to regional development.

The widely transferrable analytical and problem-solving skills you gain, coupled with your understanding of individual, organisational and political behaviour, will be valuable in almost any career.

‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. You can find more information about these options on our website and if you have any questions, please get in touch.

If you don’t have the required qualifications for this degree-level course or are looking to re-enter education after time away from study, then a Foundation Year Programme might be the right choice for you.
