This History and Music degree allows you to delve into the origins of your favourite musical styles whilst learning about historical events of the past.<br/><br/>This degree in History and Music allows you to pursue your passions and interests in both subjects. You’ll learn to research, seek out information, think critically, evaluate, provide analysis, come up with ideas, be critical of accepted opinion, and construct your own effective arguments. You can discover how the music you study impacted society and culture in its day – and how it continues to be part of the current cultural conversation.<br/><br/>Bangor University is an ideal place to study History and Music, steeped in history the city itself is one of the oldest in Wales. We have strengths in both medieval and modern. You can capitalise on our world-leading expertise in performance, composition and musicology alongside exploring the history from the Neolithic period to the recent past.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. For all Music courses the ability to read staff notation is required. Points from grade examinations are taken into consideration where appropriate, although are not normally included in the offer. Level 3 qualifications can also be considered in conjunction with a grade B in A level Music, merit in the ABRSM/Trinity/LCM/Rockschool Grade 5 Theory/Grade 7 Practical, or IB Higher in Music.
