Our BA Music is deliberately versatile and designed to equip you with a mix of academic, creative and practical skills. Our BA Music is deliberately versatile and designed to equip you with a mix of academic, creative and practical skills. You will be taught by world-renowned composers, performers and musicologists, who will encourage you to explore the connections between all three fundamental aspects of musical study and how they relate to wider culture and society.<br/><br/>During the degree you can explore the history and development of your favourite genres, discover new styles and repertoires, and learn more about the art and craft of music. Taking part in regular workshops, guest talks, performances and concerts will improve your skills as a musician, performer, composer or musicologist. Guided by renowned composers you will have opportunities to develop your own compositional skills in a range of styles and media. You can also choose to hone your performance skills, as a soloist or as a member of an ensemble.<br/><br/>Our extensive music facilities on campus include two professional standard concert halls, rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, and electroacoustic composition and recording studios. You will also have access to dedicated performance and rehearsal spaces in the Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre. At Bangor University youll be joining a friendly music-making community that includes the University Symphony Orchestra, University Chorus and Chamber Choir, String Orchestra, Concert Band and Jazz Band.<br/><br/>The BA Music course includes optional modules from other subjects, while the BMus course is exclusively music modules.<br/><br/>‘Placement Year’ and International Experience Year’ options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to fully consider these options when you have started your course at Bangor and can make an application for a transfer onto such a pathway at the appropriate time. OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma
Extended Project
Points can include a relevant Extended Project (EPQ) but must include a minimum 2 full A-levels, or equivalent. Please contact us for more information.

Including a grade B in Music. In lieu of Music A-level we will also consider other A-level subjects in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications in Music or merit in the ABRSM/Trinity/LCM/Rockschool Grade 5 Theory/Grade 7 Practical; or IB Higher in Music. General Studies and Key Skills not normally accepted.

T Level qualifications are accepted on a case by case basis.
Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024)
We will accept this qualification in conjunction with other level 3 qualifications.
