This is a continuous four-year, integrated Masters in Biomedical Science. <br/><br/>Practical from the outset, over the first three years students will build experience in essential lab techniques in our modern teaching and research laboratories, as well as study body systems both in class and hands-on in our dedicated Anatomy Suite and our Museum of Human Disease.<br/><br/>The first two years cover a broad interdisciplinary curriculum that encompass core modules of biomedical science and professional and academic skills, designed to aid students learning journey in preparation for a bespoke third year. In Year Three, the MSci programme offers research skills-focused modules and a choice of relevant subject-specific pathways. The substantial final-year research project, running the length of the academic year, provides excellent preparation for further research training and higher education degrees (such as a PhD) and for working across the biomedical sector and beyond. <br/><br/>Students will have access to specialist expertise in laboratory, epidemiological and clinical research, which is available both in the University and at St George’s Hospital, with whom we share a site. Students also have access to excellent facilities to help develop strong research knowledge and skills, including cell and molecular biology techniques, microscopy, imaging and flow cytometry (in our Imaging Research Facility), animal and cellular models of human disease and bioinformatics.<br/><br/>Develop key transferrable skills on this course, including critical thinking, complex problem-solving, data analysis and application and communication skills. Students can increase their employability further by opting to take part in a Professional Training Year, either in the UK or abroad, within the commercial/biomedical industry sectors, research institutions, government bodies or the NHS.
