Develop your creative and technical voice across music production, composition and performance - and make your mark on the music industry.
Music production, composition, and performance are continually evolving as new technologies change the way music is created, produced, and experienced. This course is designed for musicians, producers, composers, and performers who want to develop their creative and technical skills across contemporary music practice.
You'll develop practical skills in recording, production, mixing, and mastering, alongside composition, performance, sound design, and music technology. You'll explore areas including: sequencing, synthesis and sampling; film, games, and screen scoring; live sound and spatial audio; sound art and installation; interactive and audiovisual performance; and experimental sonic arts. This will give you the opportunity to develop your interests while building a broad understanding of contemporary music production.
Learning is centred on practical and collaborative work. You’ll record, compose, produce, and perform through a range of projects, while live briefs and industry engagement will give you experience of applying your skills in professional contexts.
You’ll work in our Creative Technology Studios, using specialist recording and production facilities, professional audio equipment, and industry software. Taught by staff with professional and research experience across music, sound, and technology, the course will help you develop a portfolio of work and the skills needed for careers across music production, composition, performance, sound design, audio, and the wider creative industries.
