**Apply the science of food to promote good health and understand the social influences that affect diets and nutrition.**<br/><br/>Nutrition plays a key part in the promotion of good health and the primary prevention of diet-related illness in communities and populations.<br/><br/>As part of this course, you’ll:<br/><br/><br/>- Become a critically reflective practitioner and gain practical experience in our health science and catering laboratories<br/><br/><br/>- Gain an understanding of the relationship between food, nutrition and health<br/><br/><br/>- Manage, analyse, interpret and communicate information and statistics about nutrition related health and disease states<br/><br/><br/>- Undertake work-based placements to apply your expertise and refine your practical skills<br/><br/><br/>- Have the option to undertake either a 20-30 day placement after year two, or a longer sandwich placement year between years two and three<br/><br/><br/>**ACCREDITATION**<br/>This course is accredited by the Association for Nutrition.<br/><br/>**Find out more** <br/><br/>Careers in nutrition are developing and expanding, and through work placements you’ll experience the wide variety of roles available for nutritionists. <br/><br/>You’ll be able to undertake a placement in an area such as:<br/>- The food industry<br/><br/><br/>- Producers and suppliers<br/><br/><br/>- Charities<br/><br/><br/>- Community Projects<br/><br/><br/>- Weight loss and healthy lifestyle services<br/><br/><br/>- Sports nutrition<br/><br/><br/>- Public and private sector catering<br/><br/><br/>- Research<br/><br/><br/>You’ll also develop group skills by delivering your own nutrition awareness event. UCAS Tariff120 A minimum of 80 from two A Levels or equivalent, excluding General Studies. A minimum of 40 points at A Level or equivalent must be from a science subject. If you are studying Biology, Chemistry or Physics to meet this requirement you must also achieve a `Pass' in the practical assessment, where that practical assessment is separated. GCSE/National 4/National 5GCSE English Language and Maths at Grade C or above (Grade C for GCSEs taken before 2017) or equivalent. Key Skills Level 2, Functional Skills Level 2 and the Certificate in Adult Literacy/Numeracy are accepted in place of GCSEs. |
