Youll be able to identify barriers to learning and develop inclusive teaching practices and strategies to help individuals, including those with SEND, thrive in an educational setting. Youll gain specific knowledge of conditions such as autism, and have a critical understanding of the local, national, and international contexts of education. <br/><br/>In the second and final year of your degree, youll choose optional modules from four key themes:<br/><br/><br/>• Psychology and inclusion<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Early years<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Children and society<br/><br/><br/><br/>• Teaching and education<br/><br/><br/><br/>This enables you to tailor your learning around topics that interest you most.<br/><br/><strong>Hands-on learning</strong><br/>You’ll have the opportunity to gain 270 hours of work experience throughout your degree. Our strong partnerships with local primary and secondary schools, as well as SEND and alternative provision settings, give you the chance to apply your learning to real-world settings. <br/><br/><strong>Study support</strong><br/>Youll join a supportive academic community, learning from experts in research and professional practice. You’ll also benefit from a variety of guest speakers, who will share their experience and bring real-world insights into current educational issues. Previous sessions have covered topics such as educational psychology, mental health, social work, employability, and enterprise activity. In addition, youll have the opportunity to gain additional professional development qualifications and certificates, including, first aid, child protection, forest school and Makaton.<br/><br/><strong>Your learning environment</strong><br/>Specialist facilities and learning spaces – including our observation room – enhance and inspire your academic and practical development.
